Stressed at work?! Ask any marketing professional how many projects they have on their calendar at any given moment and you’ll be shocked (or maybe not) to learn that statistically that number is 30 or more. Forty percent of all large corporations are facing restructuring, leaving employees feeling insecure about their prospects. Today’s workers experience 7 interruptions an hour, totaling over 2 hours of distraction each day. Yes, all of this chaos equals stress in the workplace.

Using Color Theory in Your Trade Show Exhibit

In a study entitled “The Impact of Color on Marketing,” researchers found that consumers made about 90% of their quick decisions about a brand based on color alone, including whether a color was appropriate for the brand or not. With this knowledge, color becomes central to discussions about brand, including how to display the brand at a trade show booth, and we can use color therapy to determine our best choices.

That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest.” Early in his career, Buffett read closer to 800 pages a day, and even now, he reads daily for about 8 hours.

Budget Saving Trade Show Travel Tips

Posted by Exhibitor Source on May 24, 2022 10:45:00 AM

by Jennifer Barham

Recently, I was thinking about the word “budget” and where it comes from. Turns out, it’s a Middle English word from the Old French bougette, meaning “leather bag.” It originally meant an actual bag, but later it came to mean the contents of the bag when the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in presenting his opening statement, was said to “open the budget” when he unbuckled his leather bag to retrieve papers containing financial reports. Now we use the word to mean a statement of expenditures and revenues, and the old meaning – a portable leather bag – has been lost.

New Tech to Give Trade Show Attendees a Sense of Safety

While pandemic safety restrictions seem to be easing up, we’re all familiar with the ever-present gallons of hand sanitizer, the social distancing floor stickers, limitations on crowd size, and constant sanitizing of surfaces everywhere we go. These are measures to keep us safe, help us feel comfortable, and enable us to return to (somewhat) complete normalcy as quickly as possible.

Although the buzzword of the millennium is “minimizing,” let’s talk about MAXIMIZING! Floor space in your exhibit, that is. There are loads of good reasons to increase your booth’s floor space. First, it’s more important and mindful than ever to have an open, spacious floor plan to keep people comfortable and safe and to remind them that you are being intentional about their comfort. Second, a little extra space makes everyone more physically comfortable and makes your booth easier to navigate. Third, intentional space creates allure – it is inviting and appealing. Just think: when is the last time YOU wanted to step into a cluttered space full of people?

3 Basic Event Design Rules

Posted by Exhibitor Source on Aug 25, 2020 10:45:00 AM

...but often not considered

In the flurry of activity that goes into preparing for a trade show – from the best technology to the flashiest graphics to the prime booth location at the event – don’t make the critical mistake of overlooking a crucial element of your brand and your marketing: DESIGN. Good design creates more space, improves the functionality of space, enhances space through lighting, color, texture, scale. Design is meant to be both very visible and magnetic, but yet subtle enough as to be almost invisible. Since many marketers are worrying about how to get noticed, design is the answer. It’s the visual image that will make people notice you. Through the use of balance, focus, and repetition, you can inspire your prospects and elevate your presence at any event.

Top 20 Fun Trade Show Activities...The Must Do's

Trade shows are a serious marketing medium in which we invest billions of dollars. In our quest to achieve business results, we often talk about getting the highest ROI (Return on Investment) or ROO (Return on Objectives).  But what about the greatest ROF (Return on Fun)… more specifically, how do we make the shows fun for ourselves?

Talking Taboo...Promotional Models

Posted by Erik Koglin on Mar 27, 2018 10:55:00 AM

Do a web search on hiring models for your trade show and you’ll find not just a few articles that decry the practice.  There are a lot of reasons to be cautious in the use of models.  For one thing, having a gaggle of hot models in your exhibit can actually intimidate some people.  That high energy and frankly “intense” atmosphere that is often associated with the proverbial “booth babe” environment is tough for the more reserved people, and can even cause anxiety just by being in the area.

6 Steps to Effective Lead Management

Posted by John Hamari on Mar 20, 2018 10:59:35 AM

An alarming statistic is that 79% of Trade Show Leads are never followed up on… how crazy is that?  There are tools that abound to make all of our lives easier when it comes to lead management.  Most exhibitors have replaced the old “business card fishbowls” with badge scanners and software. But far too many exhibitors are still merely collecting as many cold prospects as possible and handing them over to sales. That approach can make the follow-up sales efforts overwhelming. Using the following six lead management steps will ensure your lead generation efforts identify the quality leads.

Growing Brand Advantage

Posted by John Hamari on Mar 6, 2018 11:47:15 AM

We all know that branding has intrinsic value, but how much value can actually ascribe to a “Brand”… more specifically our brand.  This is no small question and one that is challenging to answer.

Consider this simple example pulled from each of our everyday lives. When we visit the drug store or grocery store and we have to choose between the “store brand” version of a product or the branded version positioned right next to it on the shelf.  The dilemma that faces us in that moment is do we compromise on perceived quality and go for the less expensive “store branded” version?  It seems like there would be a lot of us that would pick the less expensive option… Not true.

The Importance of Intentional Design

Posted by Erik Koglin on Feb 22, 2018 1:50:00 PM

The Right GuyA shorthand formula to help with exhibit design goes like this: "Exhibit design should compel a particular audience into a specific conversation to achieve a measurable outcome." It doesn't cover every situation, but it does help set a pace for most design scenarios. Let's go phrase by phrase:

Obviously, we advocate exhibit design. Intentional, evocative and relevant design is important to any good face-to-face marketing endeavor. Commodity exhibits are available, and you can buy nearly anything off the internet.

5 Ideas for Client Engagement

No one wants to be replaced, as a company or a person, and having remarkable client engagement that eclipses that of your competitors makes you hard to replace.  Once we differentiate ourselves we become difficult to switch out with other companies that do the same thing that we do.  The best part about delivering this intangible value to clients is that it is fairly low cost or no cost, but essential to success.

Story telling has been a popular topic in exhibiting over the last several years.  I’ve used the term myself when talking with clients.  And I do agree that when we are designing a space we have a story to communicate.  But I also caution our clients that you need to be savvy as to what story you are telling.  You have to sort out what story you want to tell about your company.
